Rectal prolapse can be repaired through the abdomen or the perineum. The choice depends on prolapse type, bowel function, age, health and previous surgery. Laparoscopic or robotic rectal surgery in Bangalore may be considered for selected abdominal repairs.
Surgery may be needed for severe disease, narrowing, perforation, abscess, bleeding or changes that raise cancer risk. The extent of bowel removed is tailored to the disease and long-term bowel function.
Piles surgery may be considered when symptoms persist despite fibre, fluids, medicines and office-based treatment, or when prolapse and bleeding are significant. The appropriate technique depends on the grade and pattern of haemorrhoids.
A chronic fissure that does not heal with medical care may need a procedure to reduce spasm or address associated tissue. The plan considers continence and individual risk factors.
Fistula surgery aims to treat the tunnel while protecting the muscles that control continence. Because fistulas vary in depth and complexity, examination and imaging may be needed before choosing a method.
Recurrent infection or persistent openings may require removal or reconstruction. Wound location, disease extent and time away from daily activities influence the approach.
Laparoscopic colorectal surgery is a small-incision, camera-guided approach used for selected colon and rectal procedures. Potential advantages include smaller wounds, less postoperative discomfort and earlier movement. Suitability depends on the diagnosis, disease extent, previous abdominal surgery and the patient’s condition.
Laser energy may be used in selected haemorrhoid procedures to shrink or treat targeted tissue. Grade, prolapse and associated conditions determine whether it is suitable.
Laser may have a role in selected procedures, but many fissures improve with stool-softening measures and medicines. Chronic cases require assessment of spasm, scarring and continence risk.
Some fistulas may be treated with a laser-based tract closure technique. Results depend on the fistula pathway and branches, so laser treatment is not appropriate for every fistula.
GK GASTROCARE

Minor anal procedures may allow same-day discharge, while major colon or rectal surgery usually requires a longer stay.
Fluids and food are reintroduced according to bowel recovery and the procedure performed. Hydration and fibre advice are individualised.
Prescribed pain relief, warm baths for some anal procedures and careful wound care can make recovery more comfortable.
Temporary changes in frequency, urgency or stool consistency can occur. The team explains what is expected and which changes need review.
Follow-up checks healing, bowel function and pathology results when tissue was examined. Heavy bleeding, fever, severe pain or inability to pass stool or gas needs urgent advice.
